Old Testament Criticism in the Nineteenth Century

Despre carte

This important study is the only work of its kind, offering valuable insights on the development of many of the standard views in Old Testament criticism that are still in evidence today. The book answers two key questions: why did the critical method arise in Germany in the nineteenth century; and, how was its reception in England affected by the theological and philosophical climate of the time?
